TARA SINGH DELIP

Roveena read law at the University of Oxford Brookes, United Kingdom and was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in October, 2009. She was a Senior Associate in the dispute resolution practice group in one of the larger law firms in Kuala Lumpur, Raja, Darryl & Loh for 6 years before joining DS Tara & Co as partner. 

 

Her primary area of practice is dispute resolution.  Her portfolio of litigation work includes the area of civil and commercial disputes involving landlord and tenant, sale of goods and debt recovery. Roveena has also advised clients on construction-related legal needs and resolved disputes arising out of projects. Roveena has also appeared in disputes arising from the tort of negligence and defamation. She has acted for and contested suits where injunctive and declaratory relief were sought. Her area of practice also includes resolving family disputes, including custody and adoption related matters, as well as divorces. 

ROVEENA KAUR

Having called to the Bar of Lincoln's Inn, England, Tara Singh was admitted to practice in Malaysia in 1996. He is the founder and senior partner of DS Tara & Co and a trial lawyer with more than 20 years of legal experience in civil litigation and criminal defence. 

Tara has represented a broad spectrum of clients from corporations and businesses to individuals on issues involving corporate matters, contract drafting and review, as well as disputes arising from breach of contract. He has assisted clients in debt recovery through litigation i.e. from the filing of lawsuit to obtaining judgment. Tara has also represented clients in enforcement proceedings including seizing bank accounts, seizing assets and properties owned by the debtor to receive payment and initiating winding up and bankruptcy proceedings against companies and individuals respectively. 

In his years of practice, Tara has also handled a wide range of matters involving family law issues from divorces to property and child-related disputes, estate planning, contentious estate litigation matters pertaining to will and trust. He assists clients in all aspects of probate and estate administration, including drafting, reviewing and enforcing wills, power of attorney and other legal documents.

He represents clients charged with drug possession, assault, robbery, theft and other criminal offences. He also represents clients for probation, post-sentence motions and appellate review. 

Roveena has appeared in Court for hearing of interlocutory applications, trials and appeals. She has also participated in out of court settlements, including court assisted mediation.  

Roveena sits on the Bar Council Family Law Committee.

She has advised and appeared in bankruptcy and insolvency matters, including seeking and resisting bankruptcy notices and winding up petitions. She has also advised on debt restructuring exercise, liquidations and receiverships. Apart from that, Roveena has assisted clients in other corporate matters including drafting and reviewing of contracts.
